And, I was different from other children, quite different in religion in Ontario and language in Quebec and different because of history and culture of my parents. I stood somewhat apart from my fellow classmates. What I demanded of myself and others in very subtle ways was my freedom.

Freedom

Let me be,
Who I want to be,
But, who do I want to be?
I do not know,
But, what I do know,
Is that I do not want to be,
What others want me to be!

Restrictions are not for me,
Truth and honesty are for me,
Honor and respect are for me,
Justice and tranquility are for me,
Love and care are for me,
Family and friends are for me,
Clouds and the sun are for me,
Stars and the moon are for me,
Trees and flowers are for me,
Streams and rivers are for me,
Lakes and oceans are for me.
All of nature is for me.

Life is for me,
Let me be free!
